Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation (BBF), Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds (BSPB) and Protection and Preservation of Natural Environment in Albania (PPNEA) are invited to join an international webinar Conservation and sustainable use of saltwater wetlands in the Black Sea and Mediterranean region on behalf of World Wetlands Day - 2nd of February 2022.
Objectives:
The organisers from the three environmental NGOs aim to bring together key partners from the Black Sea and Mediterranean regions to share best practices for sustainable use of saltwater wetlands that could be replicated or transferred to other sites. The webinar will celebrate World Wetlands Day 2022 and highlight the importance of saltwater wetlands for people and nature.
Participants from eight European countries will present the natural site, the organisation that he/she represents, the main management techniques used in the wetland and will demonstrate the benefits for people and nature from Atanasovsko Lake, Poda and Pomorie Lake coastal lagoon in Bulgaria, Narta Salina (Albania), Camargue (France), Cadiz (Spain), Ulcinj (Montenegro), Cap-Atlantique (France), etc.
Who is the webinar for?
- is a public event directed to professionals (scientists, managers of protected areas, researchers, journalists), but also with free access for people with interest in this topic. Subsequently, the organisers will prepare a short report from the webinar summarizing the best practices across different sites which will be distributed via websites and social media channels.
