The BBF team participated in a scientific conference on the topic "Natural history museums in the XXI century", which was held on June 19-21, 2024 in the Ecomuseum with an aquarium - Ruse. It was organized by the Regional History Museum - Ruse on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the creation of the "Nature" department and 10 years since the opening of the exposition of the Ecomuseum with an aquarium - Ruse. The thematic areas were good practices and perspectives for development, science and nature in the museum - achievements, projects and ideas.
Participants in the scientific conference were specialists from the National Museum of Natural History at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the Municipal Cultural Institute with the Scientific and Educational Children's Center "Muzeiko", the Belasitsa Nature Park, the Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation, the Regional Museums in Pleven, Blagoevgrad, Ruse and Natural History Museum - Cherni Osam village.
Within the framework of the conference, the participants visited the Archaeological Reserve of Ivanovo Rock Churches and Mishka Island. The sailing on the Danube River was organized with the assistance of the Executive Agency "Research and Maintenance of the Danube River".
The program was very interesting, but especially important were the shared successes and challenges, the opportunities available to museums, as well as the difficulties faced by such objects, regardless of which institution they are managed and financed by.
The Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation presented the theme "Engaging stakeholders and creating products and services with a cause in support of important species and habitats".
Especially to Venceslav Petkov from RIM Ruse, who personally took care of each participant (the food and water on the ship were life-saving :) ) and despite the severe heat in Ruse (400) the conditions in the Ecomuseum and the attitude of the organizers made the conference not only useful, but also very pleasant.
