Virtual tournament in support of Atanas the Avocet

Mai 14, 2020
May is a month dedicated to biodiversity and on this occasion, Puklyovtsite and the Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation organize four virtual tournaments to raise important issues for the conservation of endangered species in Bulgaria among the youngest.

Each virtual tournament is aimed at a specific endangered species in Bulgaria. The first tournament is for the Avocet Atanas. The BBF team prepared a short video to present the favorite species and the threats that stalk them.

Participation in the tournaments is completely free, but registration at is required. Also, thanks to the financial support of Vivacom, each tournament will be donated the amount of BGN 250 for the protection of the respective species. If the participating teams manage to collect 3000 points in the tournament, the donated amount will be doubled and will become BGN 500. Therefore, we invite all primary school teachers to include their teams in the tournaments and thus increase the chance to reach 3000 points.

Criteria for participation are the teams to consist of 4 children who are in 4th or lower grade, and the condition will be that they play with Puklovtsite online and away from each other. The tasks that the children will solve are related to the teaching material in mathematics and Bulgarian language for 3rd grade but will require a high degree of cooperation and cooperativeness. And this is even more difficult in a virtual environment and even better teamwork skills are needed - a topic that is extremely relevant in today's conditions of distance learning and works from home.

The competition is organized by Puklyovtsite. The characters in the game are struggling with various environmental problems - such as water and air pollution, separate waste collection, deforestation. In this way, children learn to "care" about others and the world around them. Hence the name of the game.

The deers in Bulgaria are a topic in the second tournament on 21.05. Narrow-leaved peony and chamois are the endangered species affected in the tournaments on 27.05 and 04.06.
